Drinkable Meal On The Go – Ambronite Review & Giveaway

Well, any exciting plans for the weekend? We’re just planning on laying low – probably hitting up the farmers market tomorrow, and then most likely renting a Redbox. I’ll tell ya, since our little bundle of joy arrived 5 months ago, we sure get wild on weekends! 😉

I will say that at first the texture of the shake took some getting used to. It tasted a little bit more grainy than I expected. But perhaps I’m just super picky about texture when it comes to food. And as far as adding in water, I had to make sure it was super cold water. Not just cold tap water. It may just be my personal preference, but I thought the colder the drink, the better. I actually put a water bottle in the fridge overnight to let it get cold enough, then added in the bag. I’ll also say that I don’t think I would enjoy this on a daily basis, I like food too much. 😉 There is just something a bit more mentally satisfying about consuming whole foods in their natural state. But I have enjoyed this drinkable meal when I’m rushing in the morning to an appointment or when Theo is being extra clingy and I don’t have any free hands. Overall, I was pleasantly pleased with the product!

Stubbs BBQ Giveaway

Hello blog world! Long time no talk! I didn’t totally mean to leave you all hanging since…September 2014…whoops. I told y’all my morning sickness from my 1st trimester had me feeling too blahhh to blog, and that I would take a short break and come back. Well, after taking a few weeks off, I actually really enjoyed taking a break from blogging and even reading my regular blogs. Sometimes you just need to disconnect from technology and live in the real world for a while, ya know? I had all good intentions of returning after my morning sickness had passed, but then more and more time passed…still no blogging. And now after 9 months, I’ve finally got this sweet little nugget in my life.

So you can understand why I haven’t found time to blog since having my little man. I do miss it at times, but other times (especially now being a mom) I just can’t even bring myself to sit down at a computer screen at the end of a long exhausting day. This post does stir up something in me that makes me think mayyyybeeeee I might be back to blogging soon on a regular basis; if I can find the time. (gosh you blogger moms are rockstars!) Only time will tell!

Did you know that May is national bbq month?! That makes sense to me. The weather is warming up, kids are out for summer, the sun stays out to play longer…making all of those a perfect combo for some bbq! Growing up in Kansas City, I had some gooooood bbq around me to satisfy whenever I craved it. (Hello Oklahoma Joe’s!) Now unfortunately, living in Montana makes it tricky to find a decent place with delicious bbq. So I’ve had to learn to just make my own meats and bbq sandwiches at home. Enter Stubb’s bar-b-q! Stubb’s has a variety of sauces, rubs, and marinades. I’ve tried a handful of their products in the past couple years, and I’ve even been to their restaurant down in Austin, TX about 3 years ago, and man oh man, was it good!

What I love best about Stubb’s products is that it contains no high fructose corn syrup, which is usually the 1st or 2nd ingredient in other bbq sauces. And though I’m not anti-gluten, all of their products are gluten free. And the Stubb’s brand is available in 85% of grocery stores nationwide, meaning almost anyone can enjoy them! I’ve even got a quick, easy, and delicious recipe for you too so you can enjoy Stubbs alongside me!

Easy BBQ Pork
1 large pork roast (I got a 4 pack from Costco), can also use 3 large chicken breasts
1 cup Stubbs bbq sauce (your flavor of choice), plus more if desired
Place pork roast in slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours. Take roast out of slow cooker and shred with 2 forks.



Add in bbq sauce. Mix to combine.

Serve, and enjoy! Easy peasy! Not to mention delicious. And all of it takes minimal effort, which I’m all about these days with a newborn (well, 8 week old) around. You could even grab some buns and make bbq pork sandwiches. I did without the bun, considering we were out, served alongside some Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. A perfect Memorial day dinner!

Pregnancy Week 11

Morning, and happy Labor Day to you all! Hopefully most of you get to enjoy an extra day off getting to relax, but if not…hey, only 4 more days until Friday. 🙂

Let’s get right into the Marvelous juicy details of today…

Week 11fix

How far along: 11 weeks. Still not much sign of a baby bump. But I’ll be glad to be out of the 1st trimester. I’m ready to start eating some old foods again!

Baby’s size: Size of a lime.

Symptoms: The nausea is slowly getting better, usually it stays away majority of the day but likes to come back with a vengeance right before bedtime. Still breaking out more, and just a littleeeeee extra emotional. 🙂 A hormonal pregnant woman, who is also a golden retriever owner, watching the last 15 minutes of Homeward Bound is just a recipe for disaster.

Workouts: Light jogging, yoga, and some prenatal videos on FitFusion. Any women out there have any prenatal workout dvds you’d recommend??

Rings on or off: Still on.

Food aversions: Still the same as the previous weeks, nuttin’ really new to add. But I’m so ready for my banana + PB to make a comeback!

Food cravings:

Gender: Still no idea, I don’t know how some women are like “oh I totally feel it’s a ______!” All I know, is I feel nauseous. 😉 But, Adam and I have discussed that we do know how to decorate the nursery if it’ll be a girl, and how to decorate it if it’ll be a boy. I’m totally fine with either, they’re both so cute!

Sleep: Much better than last week. But I’ll probably need to invest in a pregnancy pillow soon since they say after the 1st trimester you need to stay off your back.

Baby items purchased: Nothing we’ve bought yet, but we have received some super cute gifts already from family members!

Missing: Raw cookie dough, UGH I made cookies the other day and it was just torture that I couldn’t eat any of the dough. In my opinion, it tastes SO much better as the dough than the finished cookie. Who else is with me?!

Looking forward to: Hearing the heartbeat next week!
